Ancestral trauma—often called intergenerational or generational trauma—refers to emotional wounds that can be passed down through families. You may have felt its effects without fully understanding where they come from. In this article, I’d like to gently explore what ancestral trauma is and how homeopathy is sometimes used in relation to it.

#1 - What is ancestral trauma?
Through our genes, we inherit the positive and negative traits of our parents from both sides of the family. This is said to include not only physical traits but also emotional ones.
It is said that even if we are not aware of it, these traits are deeply ingrained in our subconscious.
Ancestral trauma refers to the phenomenon in which trauma experienced by previous generations, such as parents or ancestors, is passed on psychologically or physically to descendants who did not directly experience it, creating a chain reaction.
This intergenerational trauma ranges from psychological trauma such as war, abuse and discrimination experienced by our parents or ancestors, to trauma experienced by individuals within their own families.
For example, if an ancestor killed someone in the war and thought, "What I have done? I am not worth living," that guilt maybe passed down to future generations, and the next generations may suddenly begin to feel that "life is not worth living."
Just as we all have our own families and ancestors, there are many different patterns of intergenerational trauma.

If you are experiencing emotions that you don't recognise, you may be reexperiencing them in place of your ancestors. By identifying the source of your emotions, you can heal from the true cause of your emotional symptoms or physcal illness.
If the emotions or physical symptoms you are currently experiencing are related to your ancestors, healing the cause will transcend dimentions and heal the entire family, preventing the problem from continuing in the future and being passed on to your children and grandchildren.
#3 - How does Ancestral trauma affect us?
Healing ancestral trauma can be very beneficial when you cannot connect the emotions and worries you are experiencing to the life experiences you have had.
We often see appearances and mannerisms being passed down through generations, with people saying things like , "you look like your mum" or "you look just like your dad when he was a child," but emotional patterns and traumas can also be passed down.
Positive inheritance are good, but if there are inheritances that interfere with your life or prevent you from living the life you want, it is important to identify, understand and resolve the relationship, which can sometines help alleviate your concerns.
These emotions can be wide-ranging, but examples include:

"I feel distant from my family"
You may experience negative emotions and symptoms unrelated to your own life experiences.
#4 - How do you know your ancestral trauma?
It starts with writing down and understanding the worries and emotional patterns you are experiencing.
if you cant find the connection between the worries and things you are expeiiencing in your own life, you may be able to find ancestors who went through similar worries by looking back and understanding the experiences and lives of your parents and ancestors.
You will need to write down the details in your journal about the characteristics and events of your biological parents and previous generations of your family.
By getting into the habit of writing in a journal every day, you will gradulaly become more aware of yourself and be able to identify which emotions are relevant to you and which are not.
You can also find connections when you look back at them later, so we recommend getting into the habit of writing them down whenever you notice them.
From what you have written down, try to find out if there are any recurring patterns within your family, or if any of your ancestors had similar experiences.
#4 - How does homeopathy can help to heal Ancestral Trauma?
If you realise that the emotions you are feeling are those of your ancestors, it is important to understand this within yourself and distingish them as not your own but those of your ancestors.
In homeopathy, if it is found that the emotion or feeling is related to an ancestors, the appropreate remedy can be selected and taken to support the healing process of intergenerational trauma.
Because the trauma experienced by individuals varies widely, the choice of remedy will also vary depending on the individual situation.
